Greetings to all of you from Northeast Arizona!  This has been a very wet few months for us here, the wettest that we have experienced in the six years we have been here.  Thank you each so much for your participation in the ministry here in Holbrook and the surrounding areas through your prayers and giving!  The Lord is continuing His work here.

Earlier this month we took our annual trip down to Snowflake, AZ to pick pumpkins, find our way through a corn maze, and play laser tag (in the dark).  We had 19 students who attended.  A young man, Levi, who graduated high school last May, shared his testimony with the students attending.  The weather was cool, there was plenty of food and 19 young people got to hear the difference God has made in Levi’s life and the change He can also make in their lives.  Our next event will be a shopping trip on October 28th to purchase toys and gifts to be put in Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.  The teens will be filling those on November 4th.  Packing the Christmas shoe boxes is something the teens enjoy doing every year.  In the last part of September a few of our teens attended a service in Show Low, AZ and heard a lady speak who had been a recipient of one of the OCC shoe boxes as a child.  They found it very moving—after doing this for several years it was wonderful and encouraging to finally hear from someone on the other side of the gift and to hear how it impacted her as a child.

The Well (a meeting for Christian teens for Bible study and prayer) is continuing each week.  The high school students are slowly progressing in their trek through the Old Testament and are getting to learn a lot of new information about the God they follow and His dealings with Israel; they are learning the background and foundation to the New Testament (which they generally have a better knowledge of).  It is a good study with good discussion.  The middle school group is finishing up Colossians and is going to do a six-part study on prayer and other aspects of the Christian life.  It is going well.

The Next Chapter (our young adult ministry) is continuing on Thursday nights to read through and discuss C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity.  Over coffee and excellent homemade cookies, we get to discuss Lewis’s helpful thoughts; this inevitably leads into talking about various subjects that are important to these young high school graduates and gives an opportunity to explain how all of life links back to Christ.  We also have a lot of fun.

Several of our leaders continue to mentor students.  We currently have seven students who are being mentored by Christian adults

Thank you so much for your prayers and support of Oasis Youth Ministries!

Blessings,
